Concert in Polish National Opera

"There are no bad orchestras in the world, only bad conductors, one of the greatest masters of the baton once said. This half-playful statement might be reversed, I think. Indeed, good orchestras may exist and work only when conducted by really good conductors. This was proven during a beautiful concert on 21 February in Warsaw's Grand Theatre, performed by the Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus conducted by Jerzy Semkow. The young group was formed on Semkow's initiative, made up of talented, though inexperienced students and fresh graduates of music universities. Under the direction of such an artist as Semkow, these musicians grew wings and played Schubert's C major Symphony with a conscientiousness worthy of many good orchestras. Professional with years of experience (...)."
